The heart of the work performed by CHC comes from volunteers. These may be groups or individuals who have a desire to help out in the community. We would love to have your help on any of our project sites. Everyone has their own gifts, talents, and skill sets that make them a valuable member of a volunteer team. So, even if you do not feel that you have the skills required to take on a housing project, you may have other skills that would prove helpful on a project site. If you are interested in volunteering as an individual or bringing a group to Madison County to volunteer on a set of project sites, we would love to have your help! Please fill out our Volunteer Inquiry form and we will contact you shortly.
Neighbors Helping Neighbors (NHN) is a volunteer-driven work program for volunteers to assist in making housing repairs. NHN meets one Saturday a month (from 10:00-3:00) at a home site in Madison County. The workday is led by CHC’s Volunteer Coordinator and at least one Project Manager or skilled professional to lead the many projects volunteers will tackle, including interior/exterior painting, roof patching, window replacement, deck repair, lawn maintenance, and ramp building. If you or a group of individuals are interested in participating in one of our upcoming NHN days, please contact Stephanie McCullough, our Volunteer Program Coordinator, at 828-649-1200 or by email at email@example.com.
There are many other ways to get involved! Past volunteers have donated their services to CHC in the following areas:
- Web design and marketing materials
- Construction (i.e. excavation, masonry, carpentry, plumbing, roofing or electrical services)
- Legal and financial advice
- Accounting services
- Administrative assistance
- Donating building materials, land, or storage space
- Becoming a Board Member and joining the committed group of individuals who serve on CHC’s Board of Directors (and are part of the CHC family)
